Mose wears pants!!!

This week was a whirlwind in the house of Mose, with a visit from Grandma Kate AND an adventure in his first pair of bluejeans (see above)!

The week with Grandma included Mose's first night without Mom and Dad. That's right, an entire 5 hour block of time. Grandma babysat while Mom and Dad went out for a beer, some hot wings, and King Kong! Mose's mom was a little nervous, but everything turned out just fine.

The week also included Mose's first trip to the mall in his stroller (everyone thought he was cute) and Mose's one-month-check-up, at which Mose's mom was informned that Mose is HUGE! At 11 lbs 7 oz, Mose is WAY beyond normal growth rates, which means that either Mose's mom is an abundant milk-producer (just call her Holstein) OR Mose is going to live at the top of a beanstock when he grows up.

The week also included Chanukah presents and an inaugueral Nuk experience, then culminated in an afternoon of jean-wearing (overalls a gift from Grandma.

Now, tonight Mose has plans to attend his first dinner party, for New Years! Mose is being rather tight-lipped about his resolutions, but we hope they concern his sleep-cycle.

Mose and the miracle...

The miracle of Chanukah this year is that MOse stopped crying long enough to let me take this picture...

Yes, it's true. We've had a few days of fussy-baby syndrome, but that doesn't stop Mose from being cute as a bug and well worth the trouble.

Happy Chanukah everyone! From Mose and the household of Mose. Ain't nobody hellenizing my baby!!!

The Mose Poma Award....

For fabulous gift-giving is hereby presented to "Aunt" Thisbe... who used her time at the Macdowell Colony to quilt this insanely wonderful present for Mose (when she should have been working on her novel-- naughty Thisbe)!!!

We're debating whether to frame it for the wall (in a two-sided glass frame) or to use it on the bed when he gets big enough. Either way, Mose feels super-honored to have such a work of art from such a talented lady!

Thisbe's prize is an unlimited stay at the MOSE COLONY, just as soon as she can get herself down to Atlanta. And as many cuddles as she can handle.

Mose gets around...

Mose is learning a lot in these days. He's learning to swallow, to coo, to smile. But sometimes, Mose's mom and dad have to learn things too.

Such as... learning to sling.

Mose's mom is still a little nervous about the whole "sling thing" but MOse loves it. Strapped to her body, Mose can sleep through just about anything.

And it makes typing (this blog) a lot easier. And returns Mose's mommy to the land of capital letters...

Most of the time

Mose is concerned about something.

We are excited for him to learn the English languange so he'll be able to tell us just WHAT is causing such consternation.

A bottle for Mose...

Inspired by the delicious kosher wine left over from the bris, and excited by the prospect of drinking said wine while bubble-bathing, Mose's (9 months sober) mom decided to explore the wonderful world of bottles and breast pumps.

Mose's dad offered the bottle while Mose's mom looked on and discovered that she felt suddenly nonessential. Oh my.

It had to happen someday.

Mose takes a walk...

Well, he didn't actually *walk* much, but he did stroll, if strolling is what one does in a stroller! We all walked and/or strolled around the block (except Hassle, who waited at home in a basket). We all took advantage of the clear day.

I was a proud mama. Chris was a proud papa. Dave licked Mose in the eye...

Mose's brother, and sister...

Have you met Mose's brother Dave? His sister Hassle? Dave is a dog, and Hassle is a cat, but each of them is considerably bigger than Mose...

Here they all are, lifesize and everything!

This week with Mose...

This week, Mose lost his umbilicus, which was a heady and exciting event!!! Wheeeee!

As a result, Mose was able to take his FIRST BATH! He found the experience to be so spiritual, he baptised his bathing chair.

Then he felt compelled to yell gloriously, "First bath! You hear that world, my FIRST BATH!" Despite the noise, he looked might sweet in his duck-towel.

Which is how things are when you're Mose...
